Eight professors named 2012 Cabot Fellows

Eight professors in Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences have been named Walter Channing Cabot Fellows. The 2012 honorees were awarded for their distinguished publications. The 2012 honorees: Maya Jasanoff, professor of history, “Liberty’s Exiles: American Loyalists in the Revolutionary World” Steven Pinker, Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology, “The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined” Edward Glaeser, Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics and director of the Taubman Center for State and Local Government at the Harvard Kennedy School, “Triumph of the City: How Our Greatest Invention Makes Us Richer, Smarter, Greener, Healthier, and Happier” Mary Brinton, Reischauer Institute Professor of Sociology and chair of the Department of Sociology, “Lost in Translation: Youth, Work, and Instability in Postindustrial Japan” Jacob Olúpònà, professor of African religious traditions with a joint appointment as professor of African and African-American studies, “City of 201 Gods: Ilé-Ifè in Time, Space, and the Imagination” Xiaofei Tian, professor of Chinese...
