Harvard Olympians are making headway in the 2012 London Olympic Games. With one current student, British basketballer Temi Fagbenle ’15, vying for the gold, Harvard has its fair share of alumni in the mix, with eight other athletes not only representing the United States, but Haiti, Canada, and Australia. Here’s how their progress is shaping up so far. Brodie Buckland ’06 (Australia) qualified for Wednesday’s semifinals in men’s pair rowing. Buckland will move on to Friday’s finals. Will Newell ’11 (USA) and his rowing crew won their race in the repechage, advancing past Italy in a narrow margin — less than a second. Semifinals are Tuesday. After charging past Australia in a six-second victory in the women’s eight, Caryn Davies ’05 and Esther Lofgren ’09 of Team USA will advance to the finals on Thursday.
