Briscoe wins ‘Nobel Prize of water’

A Harvard professor who has made a career of tackling water insecurity challenges around the world will receive the Stockholm Water Prize, known informally as the “Nobel Prize of water.” John Briscoe, visiting professor of environmental engineering at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), was selected by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) to receive the award. An expert in water policy and development issues, Briscoe also holds appointments on the faculty of the Harvard School of Public Health and the Harvard Kennedy School. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the patron of the prize, will present the award at a ceremony in Stockholm on Sept. 4.
