Particle smasher begins Big Bang experiment

Scientists around the world celebrate the tests at the Large Hadron Collider near Geneva. 'We will be unlocking the secrets of the universe,' one physicist says. Physicists around the world, some in pajamas and others with champagne, celebrated the first tests Wednesday of a huge particle-smashing machine they hope will simulate the Big Bang, which scientists believe created the universe.
