Family medical history reporting spotty, researchers find

The information may or may not be very helpful to doctors. An analysis of 137 studies doesn't uncover enough evidence to say how collection affects patients' outcomes. It's one of the first things you do at a doctor's visit -- fill out a family medical history. But does providing this information actually do any good? Perhaps not.
