But Washington's formal response to the deal arranged by Brazil and Turkey does hold out the possibility of a compromise. The United States told the U.N.'s atomic watchdog on Wednesday that a Brazilian and Turkish effort to resolve the standoff over Iran's nuclear program failed to address international concerns, as the Security Council prepared to slap the Islamic Republic with fresh sanctions.
