Safety of dissolvable tobacco products disputed

The industry touts lozenges and other smokeless products as safer alternatives to smoking. But public health officials and others raise health concerns and worry that they will entice a new generation to get hooked on tobacco.Tobacco company rep David Howard waxes enthusiastic when he talks about a new product his employer, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., has developed: a pellet of finely cured tobacco, binders and flavoring that dissolves in the mouth in 10 minutes.
