Burton S. Sperber dies at 82; landscape company founder

Beginning with a nursery business as a teenager, Burton S. Sperber built the company into ValleyCrest Landscape, the nation's largest landscape services company. He was also a gifted magician.He was the founder and chairman of the board of Calabasas-based ValleyCrest Landscape Cos., the nation's largest landscape services company, whose projects have included the gardens at the Getty Center and the rooftop community garden at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
