University of Illinois at Chicago researchers Robert Klie and Randall Meyer have received a National Science Foundation grant to study the atomic architecture of rhodium and its reaction as a catalyst with various promoter elements. They hope this knowledge will help unlock rhodium's potential to produce fuel additives like ethanol more cheaply and with fewer waste byproducts.
