Green: A Detailed Look at Indian Point's Environmental Effects

More than 90 percent of the striped bass that hit the protective screens in the Indian Point nuclear plant's cooling system survive, but only 38 percent of the alewives do, according to a new environmental impact statement.That fact is one of many contained in the more than 623-page document, which covers the effects of the plant on everything from archaeology to the local economy. The report was prepared as part of a review of Indian Point's application to extend its operation for 20 years beyond the 40 years of its license.
