Nurse specialists can play a key role in supporting cancer patients having radiotherapy and ease pressure on consultants without reducing the level of care provided. Researchers found that patients who attended a nurse-led clinic were more likely to be referred to other experts in the team and that common side effects of radiotherapy -- like nutrition and oral problems -- were better managed.
