Acupuncture -- Placebo Or Treatment?

I have a great deal of admiration for the New York Times' science and health reporting. Nick Wade and Carl Zimmer are absolutely awesome, for example, and the NYT have a consistent track record of uncovering fascinating or disturbing stories (take, for example, their series "The Radiation Boom" earlier this year) and discussing science in such a way that any reader can understand -- but without fudging the details.All of which explains why I'm a little perplexed by an article/post that ran in the NYT earlier this week about an acupuncture study.
