Dangerous Results: Publish Or Not?

Two recent studies have sparked some controversy over whether or not they should be published. They are focused on the avian flu virus, H5N1 (see figure 1). The virus is very deadly, killing over half of its human victims. Luckily, it has proven quite inefficient in transferring from one human being to the next, resulting in only 600 known cases since its emergence in 1997.
