Video: European airline releases artificial ash cloud to test aircraft sensor

Engineers from easyJet, Airbus and Nicarnica Aviation teamed up to create an artificial ash cloud in order to test a new aircraft sensor that will alert pilots if they are approaching an ash cloud. They say the sensor will help airlines avoid complete shutdowns in the wake of volcanic eruptions like the one that paralyzed European air service in 2010.
