Researchers have developed a training system that can safely induce sensory and mobility disturbances astronauts often experience when returning to Earth. The Galvanic vestibular stimulation system delivers small amounts of current to the vestibular nerve to induce disturbances that can affect walking and impact the ability to land a spacecraft.
