Green Blog: 'Extinct' Shrub Rediscovered in Bay Area

After legal prodding by three conservation groups, the federal Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to list the Franciscan manzanita as endangered, which will give it some protections. Still, it is hard to designate critical habitat for a plant that, until 2009, seemed to have no habitat at all, at least in the wild.
