Professor, former student share prestigious award for problem-solving theory

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) has awarded its Frederick W. Lanchester Prize for the best contribution to operations research and the management sciences published in English to Hanif Sherali, a University Distinguished Professor and the W. Thomas Rice Chair in the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, and his former student, Warren Adams, now a mathematical sciences professor at Clemson University,.
