(PhysOrg.com) -- Classical music in the dentist`s or general practitioner`s waiting room results in calmer patients. Patients are less stressed when they go into the surgery because of the classical music. Karin Dijkstra, of the University of Twente, the Netherlands, investigated the effects of music, nature and colour in care environments. These are elements that can be used to create a ‘healing environment`. She was awarded a PhD at the faculty of Behavioural Sciences on 6 March 2009.
