Violence returns to the streets of Northern Ireland

In 1998, the Real Irish Republican Army, an IRA splinter group, detonated a car bomb in a shopping area of Omagh, Northern Ireland, that killed 29 people. Since then, violent Irish Republican groups have re-emerged as amajor security threat to Northern Ireland, according to a Penn State terrorism expert.
