Beneficiaries with Medicare Part D who reach the "doughnut hole" are much less likely to use prescription drugs than those with an employer plan, says a new study. To protect seniors, the authors suggest mandating the coverage of generic drugs in the doughnut hole through a modest increase in initial prescription co-pays.
