Study helps explain varying outcomes for cancer, Down Syndrome

Disorders caused by aneuploidy, a condition in which cells contain an abnormal number of chromosomes, can vary widely in severity from one individual to another. New research shows that aneuploidy alone can cause this significant variability in traits, in otherwise genetically identical cells.
