Canada geese confirmed as culprit in US Airways crash-landing

A Smithsonian analysis of feathers and DNA found that the birds were migratory and probably wintering in New York. At least three struck the engines of the plane that landed in the Hudson. Chemical analysis of feathers has confirmed that the birds that caused US Airways Flight 1549 to crash land in the Hudson River were migratory Canada geese, researchers from the Smithsonian Institution reported today.
