BP relief well work suspended as storm approaches in Gulf of Mexico

The tropical storm system was not expected to become a hurricane, and equipment will not be evacuated. Permanent sealing of the well is delayed a few days. The effort to permanently kill BP's troubled gulf well, originally scheduled for the end of this week, has been delayed several days by the approach of a tropical storm system, officials said Tuesday.
