Arctic Sea Ice Reaches Record Low

This year, on Sept. 9, satellite data showed the summer extent of Arctic sea ice shrinking to its second-lowest point since continuous records began in 1979. Scientists attribute the decline in sea ice extent over the past 30 years to climate change.
