International Space Station Above Earth NASABackup computer is booting, so this should be temporary. During an update to flight computers earlier this morning, the International Space Station lost communications with ground controllers in Houston, NASA said. Flight controllers were updating the station's flight software when the ISS' data relay stations malfunctioned around 9:45 a.m. Eastern time. While the station flew above Russia around 11 a.m. Eastern time, mission control in Houston was able to check on the crew--they're fine--and instruct commander Kevin Ford and the rest of the crew to connect a backup computer to restore communications. We'll keep updating as NASA provides more details.
