Initial results from the annual fall bonefish census show that this year's count was down by 25 percent -- from an 8-year mean estimate of 316,805 bonefish to a new low of ~240,000 bonefish. Bonefish populations are a good indicators of overall coastal health, so careful monitoring of this fishery are warranted.
