Next-generation electronic devices: Conduction, surface states in topological insulator nanoribbons controlled

Monday, February 14, 2011 - 15:30 in Physics & Chemistry

Scientists have not only shown the promise of surface conduction channels in topological insulator nanoribbons but have also successfully demonstrated the tunability of surface states, to be on and off, depending on the position of the Fermi level. The Fermi level refers to the highest energy level that electrons occupy.
