Wednesday, November 6, 2013 - 21:30 in Astronomy & Space

Expedition 38 Crew With Olympic Torch NASA/Bill Ingalls The latest expedition to the International Space Station is lifting off tonight at 11:14 p.m. EST. You can watch the Soyuz launch for its six-hour trip to the ISS from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan via live stream right here—or if you're lucky (unlucky?) enough to be in Times Square at 11:14 p.m., you can watch it on the Toshiba Vision screen, just below the New Year's Eve Ball.  The Soyuz will be carrying the members of Expedition 38: Koichi Wakata, Mikhail Tyurin, and Rick Mastracchio. Also inside the spacecraft, there's more than the usual cargo: the Olympic torch for the 2014 Sochi games. The unlit torch will be taken out on a spacewalk this Sunday night.   Live streaming video by Ustream
