Bus-Size Asteroid Buzzes Earth

An asteroid the size of a school bus buzzed by Earth today (Sept. 7) in an exceptionally close — but safe — flyby. The space rock made its closest approach at 1:28 p.m. EDT (1728 UTC). Scientists discovered it just two days before its close approach.
