First woman ever wins math's 'Nobel Prize'

Elle Calderone, Medill News ServiceWASHINGTON, August 13 (UPI) -- Maryam Mirzakhani, a professor of mathematics at Stanford University, has become the first woman to be awarded the Fields Medal for her contributions in mathematics Wednesday at the International Congress for Mathematicians in Seoul, South Korea.
